Harrison High School’s Top Dog Junior wrestling program started in 1991. The program has trained and developed over a thousand junior wrestlers during the last thirty years. Many of our Top Dog wrestlers have gone on to wrestle at the high school level for Harrison. Come and be a part of a great tradition where kids can learn the basics of wrestling in an encouraging environment.

Middle School (6-8th) Head Coach
Chris Shaw
Chris Shaw grew up on a wrestling mat with a father who was a respected referee in Georgia for over 40 years and was inducted into the Georgia Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2019. Coach Shaw was a part of a team state championship his junior year at Eagle's Landing HS. His senior year he lead them team to a runner up finsh at the state tournament with 30 pins and a 52-9 season record for the year. After playing football for the University of Georgia in college, he took the head wrestling coaching position at Coosa High School where he helped reviatlize the program.
Today, Coach Shaw is a Physical Education teacher at Lost Mountain Middle School. He and his wife Amanda have two boys in our program. Tyson is a freshman on the high school team and Beckett is in the 6th grade on the middle school team. Both have wrestled in the Top Dog program for the last four years.

rocky copeland
Rocky Copeland wrestled at McEachern High School from 1993 - 1995. He was a part of two state championship winning teams in 1994 & 1995 while also finishing third in state individually in 1995 at 152 lbs. He continued his wrestling career in at Georgia State University before transfering to University of Georgia finishing his college career. He and his wife Kelly have three amazing kids. Their youngest son, Camden, has wrestled in the Top Dog program for the last four seasons.

william rudD
Bill Rudd has coached Harrison Top Dog since 2017. He wrestled at El Cajon Valley H.S. in San Diego, California from 1987-1989. After high school he played football at Grossmont Jr. College. After graduating from San Diego State University he commissioned in the United States Marine Corps where he wrestled intramurals and exhibition while at the Basic Officer’s Course (5-95).
Since beginning his coaching career Bill Rudd has studied under Jeff Crocker (Harrison Wrestling), Craig Murray (Harrison Top Dog), and Donovan Panone, Owner, Level Up Wrestling and author of “How to Succeed (and Fail) as a Wrestling Parent” which is a must read book for new wrestling parents.
