YOUTH PARENT AND WRESTLER INFORMATION

Equipment needs for youth/MS wrestling

Shorts, t-shirt, wrestling shoes, head gear (mandatory for tournaments), mouth guard is mandatory if wrestler has braces, singlet is recommended for tournaments.   HOYA singlets may be purchased through the club.   USA wrestling cards are purchased through the Team Georgia Wrestling or www.themat.com.

Folkstyle wrestling practice start November 10, 2009 and are on Tues & Thurs from 6:00 – 7:30pm.  Space in limited in the wrestling room, so parents may want to bring a chair to sit in the hallway while waiting for their wrestler.

www.teamgeorgiawrestling.com  - This website has all the relevant information relating to the wrestling season.  This site has the Georgia tournament calendar, tournament flyers, and Georgia wrestling forums and news.  You can sometimes get your USA card at a lower price using this link (click the membership link).  

www.sportms1.com/tgusaw -  This website is where you will register your wrestler for individual Georgia wrestling tournaments.  Registration is mandatory for tournaments and normally must be input by Thursday at noon prior to the weekend’s event.  There is typically a registration fee of $15.00 for each tournament you enter.  You may also use this site to see the number of wrestlers registered in each age group in the upcoming tournaments and to print out the match brackets for the tournament.  You will need your USA membership/card number in order to create an account for your wrestler.  Make sure you print a copy of your “e-ticket” and take it to the tournament. 

www.themat.com  - This is the website in which you obtain a “USA Wrestling Membership”  card.  Your wrestlers will need this card in order to register for  tournaments on-line.  Click on the “membership” link to renew your account or to create a new account.  The USA membership fee is around $46.00.  Print a few copies of your membership card.
